cloths

Your style of clothing affects your appearance. Research show that what a person wears really does make a world of difference; and, in fact influence the people around you. When your integrity is necessary in situations such as sales presentations, job interviews and first dates or any date, it is very important to create a "good" impression. It will be much easier to dress appropriately and appealingly when you are aware of the types of clothes that will look good on your body.Body Shapes And Clothes Styles Guidelines:- No to high collared blouses as they shorten the appearance of the neck. - No to tight, short sleeved, breast pocket tops as they detract from your figure. - Shoes with straps will shorten the appearance of your legs. - Your torso may be narrowed by belts, seam lines, collars and bows. - Short necklaces will make the neck appear shorter. - A belt or scarf hanging down toward your legs makes the legs seem longer. - Vertical lines create the illusion of a thinner and slimmer body.- Overall prints can hide figure problems, prints scattered too much can make you appear heavier. - Prints located over the shoulders will make them appear wider. Wear prints on your assets, since they usually attract the eye. Tips For Petite Women:- Yes to vertical prints and slim belts. - Yes to a slight dissimilarity in the colors.- Yes to flowing and soft fabrics that fit your body well. - No to overwhelming prints. Tips For Tall Women: - Yes to wider belts. - No to tight dress or tops and skirts which are too long or too short. Clothing Guidelines For The Hip Heavy “triangle” Women:- Yes to vertical prints and lines - Yes to V-neck tops. - Yes to dresses with small shoulder pads.

Yoga

Yoga is a philosophy and spiritual practice derived from Hindu theism, its aim is to suppress all activities of the mind and body, and separate them from one another to achieve liberation. In simpler terms, Yoga makes people feel better while loosing weight. It improves the posture, breathing, etc. Other than its physical effect, Yoga has proven to be a powerful tool in managing or controlling anxiety, back pain, blood pressure, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, headache, stress, and heart disease. Needless to say, it’s worth trying. Most people try Yoga to improve their muscle tone, stamina, flexibility, and strength; but some do it to reduce stress and tension, improve circulation, and lower fat. Whatever the reason, it leads to one ultimate goal and that is to improve their appearance. Yoga is defined as “union” in the classical Indian language. Based on the principles of the original yogis; practicing Yoga helps a person to achieve true happiness, enlightenment, and liberation. It was designed to take away the negative factors that make people unhappy or grouchy in their every day lives. In effect, people are placed in a position to better manage their reactions, emotions, and responses when dealing with everyday stress and problems. The Following Are Basic Yoga Practices That Must Be Done On A Daily Basis:1. Sun Salutations.People who are too busy to exercise can spend only a few minutes performing this ritual. It stimulates the muscles and joints. It is a series of 12 non-stop poses that go together with proper breathing. This may be done twice a day or more. 2. Breath Control. This is the most popular part of Yoga. It is done by sitting erect in the place chosen by the person for Yoga meditation alone. It is usually a place that is free from noise and preferably close to nature. 3. Meditation.Refers to mentally repeating ‘So” and “Ham” with every inhale and exhale respectively. It is one of the simplest practices in Yoga and works for everyone.4. Sun Salutation, Breath Control, And Meditation Combined.Combining these simple practices is great for beginners. This can be done for at least 3 minutes every morning or late afternoon. Doing this regularly can naturally expand the Yoga practices. Perhaps losing weight and attaining inner peace is the most sensible goal a person can achieve. It not only guarantees a positive aura and great appearance, it also offers psychological benefits that cause people to feel good about themselves

Hair tonic

The boom in alternative medicine has not passed by the market for baldness 'cures': there are now more tonics available than ever, with advertising shouting of 'natural', 'herbal' and 'aromatherapy'. Many people's first response to hair loss is to purchase a tonic, and it is always possible that, from amongst the vast and varied range of tonics available in the shops and by mail order, you might be lucky enough to come across one that does some good. Many, however, make wildly exaggerated claims, which they 'prove' with testimonials and 'before and after' photographs with changes of angle, exposure and even hairstyle to create a false impression of hair growth.Scientific proof requires controlled double-blind trials - that is, trials in which one group uses the product and another uses a placebo, and neither they nor their doctor knows until the trial is over which they used. Of course, we do not generally require such a high level of proof before we make everyday decisions (nor are double blind trials easily applied to testing the individualistic prescriptions of much alternative medicine), but given the price of some tonics it is a good idea to question what 'proof' means in their advertising: it may mean little more than that the advertising standards people haven't caught up with this one yet!If in doubt, you could contact the company asking for more evidence to support their claims. Testimonials may, of course, be falsified, or selectively edited; in any case, many types of hair loss can cure themselves spontaneously, and even the loss leading to male pattern baldness can stop for a few years of its own accord. If the treatment being sold involves rubbing the scalp, or requires more frequent washing, it may be this rather than the product that is having the beneficial effect - hence the use of double-blind trials. Before you buy a tonic, check the ingredients (mistrust any that insist on the secrecy of their formula) and see whether you cannot in fact produce something similar at home for a fraction of the cost. Also check whether the tonic actually claims to promote growth: many 'tonics' contain alcohol (though it may be hidden - for example, herbal tinctures are made with alcohol), which has a drying effect that may irritate more sensitive scalps and coarsens the hair; these are in fact simply intended as a sort of emergency shampoo. Unfortunately, although alcohol does dissolve the oils that make hair greasy, it does not remove them, merely spreads them along the hair shaft - which is unlikely to improve the appearance of greasy hair. Dry shampoos are a better alternative. Other products actually adhere to and thicken individual hairs rather than stimulating any new growth.

Hairstyle to improve appearance

A person’s hairstyle is his crowning glory, whether that person is a man or a woman. Have you noticed a how a person changes his appearance with a change of hairstyle? Women often change their hairstyles to alter their moods. Women who experience depression will sometimes change their hairstyles believing that a new hairstyle will not only change their looks but how they feel about themselves as well. The changes in a person’s appearance due to a change in hairstyle can be summed up in one word - transformation! Nothing changes a person’s appearance and character more than a change of hairstyle, whether it’s a change of the hair color or a haircut. But as with make up, the foundation of a good hairstyle is a healthy scalp. Anyone who desires to change their appearance must start with the basic care of their scalp. While there is no compelling evidence to support the old saying that brushing your hair a hundred times each day will make you hair healthier, it may be a good tip for those who want to keep their hair healthy.Brushing the hair (although not exactly a hundred times), will have a good effect on your scalp. It is always advisable to massage the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles.A person cannot choose the kind of hair he is born with although it can be improve. Your hair type has been determined from the moment you were in your mother’s womb, since genes are the determining factor. Those with thinning hair problems have probably inherited the problem from their parents. If you experience excessive hair loss, do not fret because more hair will replace the hair that has been naturally discarded. Many women have a difficult time growing long hair. If you experience this, try using a mild shampoo and avoid too much washing as this will damage the natural oils of your hair. Brushing your hair and massaging your scalp regularly will help improve hair growth.People who have oily hair have healthier hair but this type is prone to becoming limp and dull. Contrary to common believe, oily hair rather than dry hair, is more prone to producing dandruff. Those with oily hair should use a cleansing shampoo and steer clear of conditioning shampoos. If you have dandruff, a hot oil massage will not solve the problem. Experts suggest using anti-dandruff shampoos. Others recommend going to the beach and washing your hair with the salty water to deter dandruff. No matter what hair type you have, or what kind of hair problems you are experiencing, there is always a corresponding treatment. So take good care of your hair because it can make or break your personality.

Senior citizens and their diet

As a general rule the senior citizens diet is the same the diet that suits most adult eaters. The quantity of intake, however, is brought down a certain degree because the metabolism of food slows down in older years, and excess intake of food leads to obesity and health problems. A variety of changes should be made to avoid this.Sweets and greasy/fatty food are the first foods seniors need to limit. Oil, salt, coffee, tea, alcohol, and synthetic food need to be controlled. Fluid intake (especially water) should increase. Of course, this is a healthy diet for any age, but senior citizens can especially benefit from eating this way.The most frequently encountered problem with senior citizens diets is the problem of digestion. To keep the stomach and bowels working well, adequate amount of vitamins, minerals, and fiber is needed in food. These come from food sources like whole grain breads, cereals, vegetables and fruits. Many foods are now enriched with fiber, so it is especially easy to get all the fiber you need in your diet. Many senior citizens are worried about mental degradation. Fruits can prevent this. By eating a diet that includes apples, pears, oranges, prunes, and other fruits, you can greatly positively influence your mental health. Studies have also shown that leafy green vegetables have slowed the rate of cognitive decline for seniors. Vitamin E is thought to be the cause of this.Vegetables are usually eaten with salad dressings that are rich in fat. Fat is already known to increase the absorption of vitamin E in the body. In this case, a little fat can be a good thing! However, fat should not be taken in excess, especially by senior citizens, because it is not easy to digest and its accumulation can be the cause of obesity and cardiovascular problems. If you are worried about your health in later years of life, the best policy is always to talk to your doctor. He or she can provide you with more information about diet and answer concerns you may have. It is important to ask for your doctor's advice before starting any kind of new senior citizen diet or changing your current diet in order to be sure it is right for you and your body. Remember, as a senior citizen, health is very important. A healthy diet can go a long way in preventing illnesses common among seniors.

Dieting to a better appearance

Many people find it difficult to look in the mirror and accept the reality that the person they see is obese or overweight. It hurts even more when those around make fun of the individual. This may occur because an individual eats too much and doesn’t burn the calories in the food that has been consumed or it may be caused by genetics. Regardless of the reason, there is still hope. A person may have to work hard to achieve an ideal weight and desired appearance which may be accomplished by living a healthier lifestyle. A good solution will be to make some dietary changes.A dietitian can design a program for a person to follow. Making some dietary changes does not mean giving up many of their favorite foods; it simply means eating smaller quantities and including food from all of the food groups. The body needs energy to get through the day. When a person engages in an activity, the first source of energy tapped is always carbohydrates. These include oats, rice, pasta, bread, cereals and potatoes: yet fruits and vegetables still provide the greatest amount of carbohydrates because they are natural foods that contain enzymes, phyto-chemicals and other nutrients that artificial foods cannot provide. Reducing the amount of fat in the diet is essential. These fats usually come from mono and poly-saturated sources as well as animal fat. Fat should be eaten in small quantities because too much or too little can cause problems with the dietary program. A good example is milk. Those who drink should switch from whole milk to low fat. Soy milk is also ideal for those who require calcium to strengthen their bones. The intake of liquids is very important for those dieting. There are many calories in sodas (pop) and juices; even diet sodas are not good because they only make an individual want to eat more. The best thing to drink during each meal is still water. By eating smart, a person will feel good and be able to see the difference in their appearance. People who once laughed will be envious. Even after the desired weight and appearance has been achieved, it is important that it is maintained. If not, those extra pounds will come back and a person will have to start over again.

Diet for family

The diets for a pregnant woman should not be low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets, however. Carbohydrates are necessary for one's energy on a daily basis. With the extra weight gain and the hormonal changes of pregnancy, one should try to keep one's energy up. This means continuing to exercise - but focusing on exercises for pregnant women instead to maintain your health and metabolism.Beyond protein and carbohydrates, it is essential for pregnant women to maintain a diet rich in vitamins and nutrients. As most everyone knows, calcium is crucial to building strong bones, but it can also help with nerve functions. Pregnant women should be sure to consume a moderate amount of calcium per day. Other essential vitamins like A, C, B12, D, etc., are necessary to help with healthy skin and bones and maintaining the nervous system. A lot of these vitamins can be found in leafy green vegetables and fruits.Overall, it is important to understand that diets for a pregant woman must be balanced diets that are healthy. Understanding the five food groups of the food pyramid as established by the U.S. government is perhaps the easiest way to ensure that you are eating the right kinds of foods. Many pregnant women think they need to eat for two people, but in reality, you should only be consuming about 300 more calories per day for the baby, and those 300 calories should be nutritious and healthy.

Diet

The major myth surrounding diets for a pregnant woman is that she can eat whatever she wants because of her cravings. In fact, this could not be farther from the truth. Pregnant women should follow certain diet guidelines to ensure that their baby is born healthy, receiving enough nutrients and vitamins to grow accordingly. There is no one prescribed diet for pregnant women, but there are a few basics. One of the first things a newly pregnant woman should do is increase the amount of folic acid or complex B vitamins. In reality, you should be increasing this amount even prior to becoming pregnant, but maintain an increased amount in your diet during the early stages of pregnancy as well. These vitamins help with the neurological and spinal development of a baby in its early stages, and increasing your consumption of them ultimately helps the baby's growth. Another important part of diets for the pregnant woman is getting enough protein. Protein helps with cell development and producing blood. When consuming protein, pregnant women should consider lean meat choices, such as chicken or turkey, along with egg whites or nuts and tofu. Iron, often found in lean red meats, is also necessary to help cell production and prevent anemia in both the mother and the child.

business

What a scary thought! Who would want to make that leap of faith and start their own business? Do you really have the self confidence to do it? Take a deep breath and think about it.If you are contemplating starting your own business, I know these thoughts are running through your head. They certainly raced through my mind when I was thinking about it. This is a decision that needs thorough thought. Don’t jump into it without thinking.Have you thought about opening a store? The investment for an “on the street” business is great – thousands and thousands of dollars. That excludes most of us. A workable alternative is a “work at home” business. The increasing popularity of the internet has really opened up that field. The instability of so many businesses has created a need for many people to work for themselves. It is very possible to start an “at home business” with very little investment. This allows the “little guy” (you and me) to be self-employed. If you search the web for online businesses, you will find many that do require a large initial outlay of cash. That wasn’t for me. I wanted an opportunity to start with little or no cash output and then I could determine expenditures on advertising and other things. This would allow me to control my budget. Not having a lot to spend, I was aware that it is possible to find free methods of advertising which would require more time than money.

fruit

Isn't that purty!!! In case you have never had one, it is a Pummelo, also known as a Chinese Grapefruit. The one I had was about 9 inches across. It's like a grapefruit on steroids!!! [grin] Now I have to admit that the pummelo is deceiving. It is huge on the outside, but the edible part is barely larger than what you would get out of a regular grapefruit. It has a thick skin and thick membrane surrounding the segments. The taste is sweet-tart and less acidic than grapefruit. This would be a good citrus fruit for people who have trouble with the acidity of other citrus. The one I had was pink, but you can also find them with white fruit.B = 1/2 of a pummelo (Bob had the other half!)S = six medool datesL = green smoothie (banana/spinach/coconut water) with royal jellyS = 2 Oh My this is a Tuna! wraps in red romaine leavesS = grape juice with club sodaD = 2 bananas

Day Eighteen
It works!!! I got a mango splitter for Christmas and have been patiently waiting for my mango to get ripe enough to use so that I could try it out. I am so pleased! OXO Good Grips makes this product and it works like a dream. It seperates the seed from the flesh and then all you have to do is score the fruit and squeeze it. The flesh just pops right out of the skin!!! You might want to ask for one of these bad boys for your next special day!!!B = 2 bananasS = red bell pepperL = Manana SmoothieS = 3 medool dates with raw almond butterD = mixed greens salad with spinach

want to really thank you if you have already donated $10 to A Place to Bark. The money will make a huge difference to the day to day operations of the shelter and help Bernie save more animals. If you have not donated yet, won't you please take a moment to do so? In order to win the $50,000 so that she can build a new shelter... Bernie must be one of the top four charities. Just yesterday she was in second place, where she had been for quite a while. Unfortunatly, the other charities have stepped up to the plate and she is currently down in fifth place. We need to get her back up at least to number four before 3 PM EST on January 31st!!! And if you have already donated, please spread the word. Every little bit helps!!!You can check to see how Bernie is doing by clicking HERE.The badge to donate is in the sidebar, or you can do it right from the link directly above! And if a little bribery is needed... well, we're not above that!!! Several artists have now stepped up and are offering original pieces of artwork as prizes to those who donate to A Place to Bark!!! Nudge - Nudge!!!

Day Twenty-Five
Bob and I just got back from a very good free lecture that was held at The Raisin Rack. Jesse Miller of Flora gave a very informative talk about "The Ins and Outs of Cleansing". Most of the stuff we already knew, but it was good to hear someone else say it! [grin]Anyhow... I wish the weather would make up it's mind around Ohio. Yesterday we had a daytime high of 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was very dreary, depressing and drizzly. Then we had high winds and a thunderstorm roll through last night. Today we had a bright and beautiful day, but it was cold... damn cold! It said that it was 21 degrees for the high today... but it sure felt colder to me!!!B = water until noonL = green smoothie (bananas/fr. pineapple-mango-strawberry blend of fruits/fr. pineapple/coconut nectar/Vitamineral Green/spinach) with 1 Tbsp Royal Jelly.S = raw "Fiesta Cracker" with 1 Tbsp. "Oh My this is a Tuna" spread and 1 sun-dried black oliveS = bunch of white seedless grapesD = 2 large red romaine leaves, deveined and divided, wrapped around 4 mini Raw Whole Food Hot Dogs with a little bit of radish sprouts.

Day Twenty-Four

I did not sleep well last night. I don't know what started it up, but I was having some serious acid reflux. Actually, that has mostly become a thing of the past since becoming raw. However, I think I ate too late, so no doubt that had something to do with it. I ended up spending most of the night sleeping on the couch with my head and shoulders well elevated.Tonight Bob and I decided to have a drink! Well, okay... it wasn't really alcoholic, but it tasted like it could be! We got this recipe from the website Real Food in Tulsa. You really need to head on over there and check it out!B = 2 bananasL = huge mixed green saladS = bananaS = Blood Orange Raw MojitoD = 4 Oh My This is a Tuna! wraps (in red romaine leaves)

Day Twenty-Three
Have you ever heard Tera Warner of The Raw Divas talk about eating a persimmon? You would think she was having a steamy relationship by the way she goes on!!! [grin]Well, I finally get it! The first time I bought one, I left it sit on a windowsill until it started to get really soft... just like someone online had said you needed to do. However, I didn't think it tasted so great. But Tera just kept going on about them, so I decided to give them another try. I bought a couple of them, and this time I put them in the fridge and waited until they just started to get soft. Oh dear goddess!!! That's all I can say. I have a passion for persimmons!!!B = BBC Smoothie (with the addition of 3 Tbsp. raw cacao & 1 Tbsp. Royal Jelly)S = bananaL = white grapesD = persimmonsS = Basil Limeade

Day Twenty-Two
Today was a day of rest for me. I got up earlier than normal and put my body together, fed the birds and then waited for my mother to make her weekly call. After that I put the sheets in the washer and then promptly fell asleep for two hours!I just drank water most of the day. I did have the little bit of leftover Spinach and Tofu from the previous night. I just finished a nice green smoothie and now I'll go curl up under the covers in bed with a magazine and turn in early. I just feel like a cat with a bowl of warm milk!Today's picture is of the soothing warm glow from the pink salt crystal lamp that Bob's parents gave us at Christmas. It casts a lovely glow all around the room!!!Water until around noon.L = leftover Spinach and Tofunap time!D = green smoothie (bananas/fr. mixed fruit/fr. peach/fr. pineapple/spinach/papaya nectar/orange-mango nectar) with 1 Tbsp. Day Twenty-One
Spinach and Tofu stir-fried (in a garlic sauce)Today was a very weird day. I woke up kinda sick to my stomach. I ate a couple of bananas for my breakfast and I seemed to feel a bit better, but by the time Bob and I got to our Tai Chi class, I was queasy again. We had a great class, though! Then of course, we had to run to the community market and pick up some raw nuts and seeds for something we are planning to whip together over the weekend. Then we ran to the grocery to get leafy greens and herbs and such. By the time we got home and I got everything put away and the mail opened... it was time to put my face on (make-up) so that I would look presentable when Bob and I went to our favorite restaurant (do I even need to mention that it is called Ha Long Bay Vietnamese Kitchen, anymore?).Well, I had no sooner started to put on my make-up when every smoke detector in the whole house started blaring! You know how you are supposed to change the batteries on New Year's Day. Well... we do... for the most part. The ceiling in our bedroom is vaulted and it is a long way up there. Bob is afraid of heights, and I am not supposed to climb ladders... so, we didn't change that one... for two years! Today, it decided to die. So the ladder came out and after installing, then re-installing the battery in the correct direction and switching off and on of power supply we finally got the things to shut up!!!Anyhow, what I'm trying to say is that I had breakfast, and then did not eat again until dinner. Because of that, I am not posting my normal list of what I ate when. But for your enjoyment, here are some pictures of what I had for dinner. Yes, gentle readers... it is cooked. But the good news is, my tummy is no longer queasy!!!Caphe Sua Da on the left, Vegetable Rolls on the right. We also shared some Summer Rolls (behind iced coffee).Check out Bob's blog to see what he ate!!!

Day Twenty
I bought the wrong bag of fruit the other day. Usually I get a bag of tropical fruits for smoothies. It's made up of something like mango, papaya, pineapple and strawberry... or peach... something like that. The other day, I grabbed for that bag, but obviously came away with something else. I got mixed fruit, which is strawberries, mango, pineapple, peaches, and grapes. That's bits of grape skin making those pretty little flecks all through my smoothie. Anyhow, it wasn't half bad. Much milder in flavor than with the other mix, even with the extra pineapple and peaches that I added! I had planned on having a green smoothie, but when the time came to add the greens, it just did not appeal to me, so I had it straight up fruit!!!B = 2 bananasL = fruit smoothie (2 bananas/frozen mixed fruit/fr. pineapple/fr. peach/coconut nectar) with 1 Tbsp. royal jellyS = vegan oatmeal cookieD = mixed greens salad with baby spinach/celery stick with Oh My that is a Tuna! spread

juice list

The amount of juice feasting blogs have exploded at a rapid rate! Every day we continue to find new juice feasting blogs being created by individuals who have decided to start juice feasting. This is an exciting time in raw food history, as people have decided to share their experiences with the world.Since we have become the destination of raw food blogs, we have decided to offer another resource to the raw food and juice feasting community: The Ultimate List of Juice Feasting Blogs! This list is separate from the Ultimate List of Raw Food Blogs, because in many of these cases these individuals want to blog about only their juice feast, not about raw food. Some individuals have decided to stop blogging after their juice feast. Therefore we have chosen to separate out the juice feasting blogs from the raw food blogs. If the juice feasting blogger blogged about raw food before their juice feast, or continues to blog after their juice feast, then their blog will be listed on both lists. These blogs are an example of what Justin and I had envisioned:
"No longer will raw food be a book-only, in-an-ideal-world, happens to others lifestyle; we will be seeing a surge of experiential experiences logged and blogged for the entire world to see from people in many different countries. Massive amounts of real world experiential data will swarm the blog world, inspiring others and laying aside doubt and leaving a trail for skeptics to follow and reassess their positions on diet and health. It will be incredible."- Justin S. Ohlander
All of these juice feasters are giving real world evidence as to the power of raw food and raw juices. We thank all of them for sharing their experience with the rest of the world. This list is constantly in progress. If your blog is not on this list, or you have found a blog that you think should be on this list, please contact us and tell us about a blog that is not on this list. If the blog is in fact a juice feasting blog we will be happy to add it to this list. These blogs are listed in alphabetical order by the name of the blog title. If a juice feast is currently in progress, it will be listed as such.

Here are some of our favorite recent blog posts from around the raw blogosphere:
Kathy wrote a great article about 10 tips on juice feasting. You have to check out her tips! These are great tips not only for juice feasters, but for anyone who likes to juice!
Over at Raw Foods Wealth 2 Health, Alma shared a great image that visually shows what foods are acid forming and what foods are alkaline forming:
What a great chart! I especially love the color bar at the top!
Annet Van Dorrser had her first experience with stinging nettles. The verdict?
She likes it!
Annet even shows how she made her first stinging nettle smoothie! Very cool!
We love seeing people who are passionate about raw food, AND passionate about other stuff. That is why I was touched to see that Darice took the time to show her professional photography skills for a wedding she recently photographed. She even spent some time with Photoshop CS3 and made them a gorgeous wedding album! To see pretty wedding photos, you have to check out Darice's work. Darice, do you do raw weddings? I bet there are some people out there who would love to hire you!
Penni has been blogging about her juice feast, and is doing so in a lovely way. Her posts are not as "scientific" as some other juice feasting blogs out there (mine included). Instead, she has been posting in a fluid story-like way. Her recent post from Day Five is no exception, as she talks honestly about her love of grapefruit juice, her lack of food cravings, and her struggle with getting four quarts of juice in a day.
Not into juice feasting right now? Still making raw food recipes? Karen Knowler has released some YouTube videos from her secret stash. Now you can learn how to make three more recipes from Karen Knowler. Check em' out on YouTube:
How to make a green smoothie
How to make marinated mushrooms
How to make marinated vegetables
Finally, our favorite raw girl living in Japan, Em, is finally back to blogging. Apparently she has a back injury, and is not able to do yoga right now (her favorite passion). Please send her some positive thoughts and email hugs! Let's hope she posts more often!
That's the raw food blog roundup!Want more? Be sure to check out the Blog Roll generated from our own Ultimate List of Raw Food Blogs. Thanks to the We Like It Raw Team for setting this up!- HeidiRaw Food Right Now

proteins

Where Do You Get Your Protein?Oh boy, it's that question again. You know the answer, you're satisfied with it, but you can never seem to get around this question whenever you explain to someone that you eat a raw food diet.Jenna Norwood of the much talked about Supercharge Me movie just posted an informative video of David Wolfe getting confidently to the point answers on where raw foodists get their protein.Check out the video...better yet, have your Grandma see it:
Here is the protein skinny from this video:
Highest non-meat protein source: Spirulina
A complete protein: Flax seeds
Other good sources: almonds, hemp seeds, dark leafy greensStill not convinced? One of our favorite articles ever on protein and vegetarian/vegan diets is from Dr. Leslie Van Romer. The article is called "Do Elephants Eat Cows for Protein?"~ Raw Food, Right NowRelated:

Hi Hanlie! Thanks for checking the link for us...I thought the link didn't go through all right last night, but JS assured me it was fine. I guess I should have double checked it.Oh well, it's all OK now!As for the calcium question...perhaps DW will answer that one next, because that is probably the 2nd most popular question out there!- Heidi

Raw Food News in the Mainstream Media Roundup for March 9, 2008

Penni Shelton: Fellow Raw Food Blogger
Raw Food, Right Now!Giving You Raw Food NewsFaster Than You Can Blend a SmoothieWe've got some mainstream news for you this week!Juice Feasting Hits the Mainstream PressFellow raw food blogger and now juice feaster, the always cheerful Penni Shelton, was recently featured in a Tulsa World article detailing her juice feast.Overall, a very positive article. I must commend the journalist, Matt Gleason, for taking on a story about something that even some raw foodists find crazy! The only "negative" view the article could point out was the classic question about protein. Of course, if you've watched the recent David Wolfe video posted by Jenna Norwood, you already know more about protein than 99% of the people on this planet. Also mentioned in the feature is the Raw Food Inspiration Award that Penni won. If you don't know what the heck a Raw Food Inspiration Award is, check out who created it and how you can give one out today!Congrats Penni!

get fresh

In this issue of Get Fresh:
Get Fresh editor, Sarah Best, starts out this issue talking about the ironic Pepsi Raw, as well as touched upon the history of the Get Fresh magazine.
Two book reviews in this issue: There Is A Cure For Diabetes, and Matt Monarch's Raw Success.
It is amazing how many new raw events there are right now, and how more events seem to grow. In this issue alone they mention 11 events - we wish we could go to all of them!
One of the best parts of this issue is a fantastic introductory article on juice feasting. It gives a great starting point of information, and talks about the Global Juice Feast that is already underway. In the next issue there are going to be some personal accounts of juice feasting! Exciting!
Brendan Brazier has a fascinating article on what he calls "Borrowed Energy"...you know, the fake energy from caffeine and stimulants. This particular article was a thought-provoking read.
Tonya Zavasta's article on sleep should be a must read for anyone who is having any issues with quality sleep, insomnia, or just wanting to feel refreshed in the morning. She even talks about her results of experimenting with sleeping nine hours at night.
The interview with Gabriel Cousens is quite in-depth, and includes a beautiful photo of Gabriel and his wife, Shanti. The focus of the article is about diabetes, but it is always interesting to see what Gabriel has to say.
Karen Knowler, former editor of Get Fresh celebrates her sixteenth year of raw food with this issue of Get Fresh by writing an article about the conflicting thoughts in our head about what we all should or should not eat. After sixteen years, there is one mantra that Karen holds... "I'm not giving up this magic for anything!" You just have to read this article, you might even want to paste it on your fridge to remind you to take care of yourself!
The lovely Diva Tera Warner has a great article with a list of 7 tips to get kids to eat more raw food. Hey! We're all kids...and these tips are good for not just kids, but everyone!
Shazzie brings kids of all ages something yummy to eat by providing three delicious, healthy, and super-powered raw food dessert recipes. Do you want a second helping? Yes, please!
Brigitte Mars has a quick start guide to spring foraging for wild foods. Complete with full color photos, and ideas on how to use wild foods in your meals!
Tips and Tricks on how to make raw food have the texture of cooked food from Cherie Soria. Lots of great ideas to inspire you in the kitchen!
A lovely compilation of salad recipes from raw chef Chad Sarno...
The final page of the magazine goes into detail of a Day in the Life of our blogging buddy, Dhrumil Purohit from We Like It Raw. He's a busy guy, but after reading about his typical day, he obviously knows how to manage his time! You don't have to have a copy of Get Fresh to learn about his routine; he posted it this week on We Like It Raw.There is even more articles and goodies that we didn't mention here. Lots more! This may sound strange, but even the advertising is beautiful! Most magazines we never bother looking at the ads, but now that we have so many friends in the raw world it is so fun to see who is in the magazine, and to find new friends and contacts! We would like to thank the Fresh Network for being kind enough to give us a gift subscription so we can give you, our readers, more bang for your Raw Food, Right Now buck!Get Fresh is full color, professionally designed raw food goodness! Yum!Now go grab yourself a copy over at your local Whole Foods or treat yourself to a subscription so you'll have something excited to look forward to in your mailbox. It's just like getting raw chocolates in the mail, except you can't read chocolates! We would like to take this moment and congratulate the entire Fresh Network and the Get Fresh team on accomplishing 50 issues.
